Designed specifically to prepare candidates for the Intercollegiate Specialty Examination in General Surgery, this intensive seven day (60 hour) course offers:

  • Clinical Sessions
  • Practice vivas in general and sub-specialty surgery, critical care and academic surgery
  • Tutorials on sub-speciality topics (parallel sessions)
  • Authoritative state of the art lectures
  • Symposia

NOTE: The Intercollegiate Specialty Examination in General Surgery consists of two parts. The first part comprises a two hour multiple choice paper and a further two hour paper using extended matching questions.  The second part is a clinical and oral examination. Candidates are not allowed to take the clinical and oral examination (part 2) unless they have passed part 1.

The Higher Surgery Course does not at present offer teaching directed specifically towards the MCQ and EMQ papers though the course content will be relevant to them. Candidates may choose to attend the course either before sitting Part 1 or before sitting Part 2 as they prefer.
